We hope that the following answers will answer some common questions. Lots of queries come about because there is only one visible speaker in Q…but Q’s are stereo and they are audiophile style sound systems…how do we define audiophile? When Q is analyzed with Pink noise (A weighted) across the frequency response bandwidth of the unit, there is a +/- 3db variation from zero db. Which suggests a very realistic reproduction of the source (hence the audiophile reference) of course the output will vary depending on the source quality, we can’t do anything about that. But we can answer some common questions…
Q. Is Q a stereo system?
A. Yes Q is a complete stereo system. Therefore you need only one Q speaker. It’s an all-in-one stereo system.
Q. I can only see one speaker, how can it be stereo?
A. The one visible speaker is a 4″ mid bass woofer . The stereo speakers are recessed underneath. This creates reflective sound. Which means you can hear the same from the front or the back or even the sides. 360 degree coverage. Hi fidelity audio from a designer stereo in all directions. Pretty cool right?
Q.What is the power rating?
A. Q is powered by a 90 Watt Class D amplifier designed and made by us. At maximum power the output is 90 watts. It’s actually a little more technical – Q is powered by 3 X 30Watt class D amplifiers with an active cross-over. Below 120HZ is summed and delivered via the 4″ woofer. Whilst the mid high drivers are powered by their own unique amplifiers. Which means Q is a true tri-amped sound system.
Q. What audio device can I plug into Q?
A. Any audio device with a standard 3.5mm jack ie: iPod, CD player, Smartphone, DVD player. We designed Q to be device agnostic. Q might be a designer stereo but it’s not a snob. (You cannot plug a turntable into Q)
Q. How many inputs in Q?
A. Q has 2 audio inputs. One standard 3.5mm Audio jack and a standard RCA input. Refer above – virtually any audio device can be played through Q stereo system.
Q. What is the USB plug for?
A. The USB plug is only used for charging. You can charge your iPod or phone or any other device that requires USB power to charge.
Q. Does the USB plug carry audio?
A. No. The USB is strictly charge only it does not carry an audio signal. Why? Because we don’t want to pay Apple licensing fees to gain access to their encrypted devices in order to get the music out. It’s lame.
Q. What is the best place to put Q?
A. Q stereo systems work best on any hard surface furniture. Credenza, side table, shelf & even floor. NOTE: Q will not work properly if placed on carpet. Carpet is a non reflective surface therefore youll lose all high-end clarity from the unit.
Q. Does room size make a difference?
A. Yes room size makes a huge difference to all speaker/stereo systems. It’s a question of physics. Q is designed for rooms up to about 800 Sq ft. It is not designed for raucous giant parties with 100s of people in a ballroom. Apartment living rooms, dens, bedrooms, offices are the ideal spaces for Q.
